For those of you looking at your CCVP certification, Cisco Press has a new book for Call Manager 6. Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager Part 1 (CIPT1), by Dennis Hartman a CCIE and lead Instructor at Global Knowledge. ( I happen to work with him - congrats on the book Dennis!)

This is the first book that deals with Cisco's latest version of Unified Communications Manager. At about 520 pages it is a small technical book but is packed with information regarding the Cisco CIPT1 Exam 642-446. Dennis spends a good deal of print discussing CCM architecture, deployment models and installation. He also describes in detail layer 2 VLAN and switch configuration for voice over IP.

He hits all of the major points that are covered on the exam.

If you are Self Studying for the Exam this book is a must have. In fact I think it is the only printed resource out there. It is focused to the Exam topics so it is not a complete how to for Call Manager (Hey- The CCVP does have 5 exams after all) but this a great reference that will be at home in every Cisco voice engineers library.
