entry-level IP phones that provide full feature functionality, purpose
built for use with Cisco's Unified Communication 500 Series platforms.
These phones are an excellent choice for customers undergoing the
transition from traditional digital or hybrid key systems (KTS) and PBXs
to the Cisco Unified Communication 500 Series system. The Cisco Unified
IP Phones 500 Series can be easily integrated into the Cisco Smart
Business Communications System using Cisco Configuration Assistant
(CCA). These phones can be used by SMBs in cubicles, retail settings,
classrooms, breakrooms, lobbies, and manufacturing areas. Additionally,
the phones are optimized for solution deployments to replace traditional
voice systems, or to layer a next generation voice solution into a CAT5
wired environment.
The Cisco Unified IP Phone 521G is a single-line IP phone with two call
line appearances. The Cisco Unified IP Phone 524G is a four-line IP
phone with up to eight call line appearances. Four dynamic soft keys on
each phone guide you through core business features and functions, while
a backlit pixel-based display combines intuitive features, calling
information, and device system information to give you information at
your fingertips. The Cisco Unified IP Phones 521G and 524G can be
powered by a network switch with Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability or
can use an optional power adapter. The phones are inline with Cisco
Green, incorporating power efficiency technology features such as LCD
shut-off to save power when the phone is not in use. Finally, the Cisco
Unified IP Phones 500 Series can also be used with unified
communications productivity-enhancing features such as directory search
and VoiceView Express.
The Cisco Unified IP Phones 500 Series can be sold by Cisco Partners who
are Select Specialized or higher, and can be supported by Cisco TAC via
SMARTnet contract.
Please note that in order to support these new phones, customers will be
required to update their existing UC500 unit to IOS 12.4(11)XW7, and
must download CCA 1.6 in order to configure them.
Comments
BUT....
The rumor on these phones is that they do not have the built in switch. Therefore, a PC cannot be connected to the phone. For those existing installs, having to have a 2nd data port for the phone could be a project killer.
Has anyone seen these phones to verify/discount my statement?

PC Port
You are right, there is no PC port on these IP Phones.
Linksys vs Cisco
Don't be fooled, these phones are not like the Linksys versions though they look just like it. They have a completly different firmware build and also these phones do not work with the CME on all plateforms. Cisco only supports these on the UC500. If you have a ISR Router they are not supported and you will not get TAC help for it. Thourgh I think the phone load will work on any CME model. The word from Cisco is sell only if you have to. If you sell these there is no upgrade path for the larger use if they grow beyond 50 users. But they are good Cheap ip phones.
linksys
It's linksys SIP phones.
so anyone have any info is it running SIP or SCCP ?
The protocol on these IP
The protocol on these IP Phones is SPCP (Smart Phone Control Protocol). SPCP is essentially SCCP enhanced to support these phones. SIP is not supported on these IP Phones.
