Has anybod tinkered around with setting up fax detection with their UC500? I have 4 FXO lines pluggerd into my UC500 and a fax machine plugged into an FXS port. 3 of my POTS lines are voice calls and the fourth is for incomming and outgoing faxes. I also have an A.A. setup for incomming calls. I'd like to have the UC500 automatically detect the fax transmission when it picks up the fourth line and send that call directly to the port that the fax machine is plugged into. I believe this is within the ability of the UC500 but I am unclear on how to propperly configure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Brian |

When Unity Express 3.1 is released for the UC500 platform you should be able to detect faxes at your main number and store them in Voicemail for later retrieval Using an IMAP Mail client in TIFF Format.

I had a similar setup, but had on-and-off issues with incoming faxes getting comm errors. I have since decided to just plug the analog phone line directly into the fax. I was using it as a rollover outgoing voice line, but if this is not needed, just plug in the fax directly. It will save time and headaches.
FYI my config looked something like this. I'd be interested if anyone else has this running, and if they are experiencing any issues. I think it depeneded on the sending end, but sometimes incoming faxes would work, sometimes they wouldnt.
The config is pretty self-explanitory. incoming calls to the fxo port transfer to extension 304, which is mapped to the analog fxs port (dn 8, ephone 4)
