UC520 IP Phone 7931 Unusual line button numbering

jayboreed's picture

I am trying to add lables to the line buttons for speed dials for a setup where I have 2 7931 phones attached to a UC520. The secretary wants to add and delete these speed dials as she wishes. No problems having here use the GUI right? Well, when she goes in the GUI and puts a speed dial number in on line button 5 or other numbers, it does not show up on the line button.... that I think is line button 5. Same thing if I do it via the CLI. Instead it show up on what I think is line button 7. I try to figure out the pattern and then the next number put in messes up my mindset of what I think of the pattern being used. The docuementation on the 7931 phone shows a picture with descending even numbers on the left side of the paper label area going from top to bottom and ascending consecutively numbers from 1 to 4 on the bottom to top. The picture itself conflicts with itself. The picture is on the second page of the link pasted in below.

I'm not new to networking, but new to VoIP. Am I looking at this wrong. Is there someting I don't understand with the way buttons are numbered on the phone. I read a reference on this website about using the proper ephone template to make sure it was of the 7931. Checked that and it is correct. Anybody, got any ideas of what I am doing wrong, or the way I am doing it, or looking at this.

Thanks,
J R
