How I chose not to sell a Cisco UC540

A recent sale makes me remember that a UC540 is not always the best choice. I had a customer approch me saying he wanted a UC540. He was an attorney with one employee. I thought he was a bit small for a UC540, especially since he already had a switch and a router.
SO here is what I did sell him.
2 SPA525G phones
2 SIP Trunks and a Fax Line from ViaTalk
He has plans to grow so eventually he will get that Uc540 and I'll just move the SIP Trunks to the UC540.
The moral of this story is - take care of your customers - There always is a bigger sale down the road.
If you are a reseller - I recommend you look at the ViaTalk Resale program by clicking on the affiliate link at the bottom of the linked page. I've been pretty happy with their service and actually use it for my home service on my Uc20 now.

Re: How I chose not to sell a Cisco UC540
So in this set up each handset is registered to one SIP trunk? I was wondering if it is possible to register say three handsets to the one multi-trunk SIP service and have each handset ring when the SIP number is called?
Can you transfer calls between the two 525Gs? Place calls on hold?
This is an implementation I was thinking of for a potential client who is in the exact same boat as your client where an 8 user system is an unnecessary expense.
Fantastic site by the way.
There is now an app for that!

:D
Wow! Totally didn't know you were the creator of this site!!!!
Well just wanted to let you know that you've done a hell of a job and wanted to thank you for creating!
Your welcome!
I try not to be too SPAMy! ;)
On another note . . . I have submitted an iPhone app to apple based on info contained on this site. If approved it will be free and advertising supported. The plan is to show current news, videos and a list of software updates with push notification of new updates by Cisco.
I should hear back from Apple within two weeks.
Wow!
Hey that sounds interesting! Make sure you let us know what happens! I rely on this site a ton and hope it keeps on growing.... Having this as an app would be amazing!
Hey - my baby has to eat.
I'm not shy about it. I make a few dollars from it. BUT - I do actually use the service.
Throughout this site I have Amazon links and Google ads and so on. WIth the traffic on the site I Make a few dollars more than I pay in hosting fees. But I make more in one day of consulting than I do in 6 months of Ad revenue from this site.
I started uc500.com with the hope of building a community after seeing how acdtive some of the open source PBX sites were. The reality is that hosting costs money and so does my time, so I put ads on the site and pub services I use. Viatalk is one of them. I used NexVortex in the past, but now my choice is Viatalk.
Really?
Great way to make some commission by posting your AFFILIATE link! lol
Sounds like a great simple
Sounds like a great simple solution! Has it worked well?
Very well
One thing I didn't expect. The service comes with hosted voicemail and MWIs worked without any special setup.
