Hi All

I know it has been a while since I have posted, but there hasn't been a lot of news lately regarding the UC500.
A new software pack should be out soon and I am very hopeful that we will see support for the former Tandberg endpoints such as the e20.  I'll post info as soon as I get it and welcome you to do so as well.
Thanks to everyone who keep the forums here busy!
My blogging efforts have gone elsewhere for the time being as I have started a Cisco TelePresence site at http://thetpsite.com  Please stop by.

Cisco dramatically raises all certification exam fees

As I was scheduling a new test at the Vue website as I frequently do, I noticed that CIsco has rasied the prices on all certification exams.

That CCNA, CCNA Voice or CCNA Wireless Exam is now going to set you back $250 USD.

That CCNP 642 level exam is now a cool $200

I think this is a big mistake by learning at Cisco.  Certified indviduals drive sales of Cisco products.  Certifiying them should not be a profit center for Cisco.  In fact I believe they should do everything possible to encourage engineers to take exams.

The CCNA is a hard exam these days.  Most people new to the industry fail it the first time they take it.  What is the incentive to retake the exam if it is so expensive?

I was thinking about getting my CCNP wireless for fun.  Now lets look at how much that track will cost me in testing fees assuming I pass each exam on the first try.

Introducing Cisco OnPlus

While I was at Cisco Live last week a new product went live that was NOT announced.

For the last couple of years I have been involved in a top secret beta program (code name Thunderbolt) at Cisco along with dozens of other SMB Partners.  Well Cisco has finally released Thunderbolt as Cisco OnPlus to it's SMB Partners.

Cisco OnPlus is a Cool product for SMB Partners

It is a cloud based service that provides monitoring, alerting and remote access to a customers site.  To all products at the customer's site - Not just Cisco stuff.  If you have been doing this for a while you may remember Cisco Monitor / Director for SMB.  That product was not the greatest and discontinued.  This is the replacement and a major upgrade to boot.  Cisco built this product and incorperated basically all of the partner feedback they received during the beta process.

What does Cisco Onplus do?

UMM... Cisco Could I have an update please?

So it has been awhile since the last update and CME 8.5 has some cool new features, Including Video and SSL VPN for 79XX series phones.

It would be nice to see an update to the UC500 series.  The last one was in December.
